Liquid Sunshine

LIQUID SUNSHINE

She floats off the ground in her silk white gown, on her wedding day,
Dressed in dreams she designed in junior high.
But the black clouds loom on this muggy June, they might wash away,
Her perfect party, to launch her brand-new life.
As the skies grow gray, her eyes grow wet,
The thunder and lightning play their duet,
But before she breaks down or gets upset,
She hears her mama say,

CHORUS
Just think of the rain as liquid sunshine,
It comes down cold but it helps you grow, a little stronger every time,
Life will contain, many more days of rain,
But a sunny state of mind,
Can turn the rain into liquid sunshine.

A decade has passed, the marriage didn?t last, so she?s struggling,
Trying to raise a son all alone.
The bills are unpaid and the bed?s not made, ?cause she?s juggling,
The role of mom and dad on her own.
But she's calm in the eye of the hurricane,
Doesn't ask for help, or the right to complain,
She's taking back her life and her maiden name,
She?s never felt this free,

CHORUS
She sees the rain as liquid sunshine,
It comes down cold but it helps her grow, a little stronger every time,
Life will contain, many more days of rain,
But a sunny state of mind,
Can turn the rain into liquid sunshine.

BRIDGE
As she grows older, the rain gets colder,
And umbrellas are hard to find.
She can?t control the weather, but that don?t upset her,
She knows the sun?s never far behind.

Forty years later, they gather to pay their, respects to her.
And her son rises to speak.
Though he was fatherless, he?s now a big success, ?cause of mama?s words.
And he shares them as tears dance down his cheeks.
And as he speaks the clouds gather overhead,
But it feels strangely appropriate,
It?s what his mama would have wanted,
To mark this sacred day.

CHORUS
She?d say the rain is liquid sunshine,
It comes down cold but it helps us grow, a little stronger every time,
Life will contain, many more days of rain,
But a sunny state of mind,
Can turn the rain into liquid sunshine.
